SchoolhouseTeachers Membership Benefits

When you purchase an Ultimate Annual Yearly Membership with SchoolhouseTeachers.com, you will have complete access to the whole site.  I didn’t realize that membership includes access to over 400 courses!  Some of these are even at the high school level, including these amazing options:

  • a full year of geometry with Mr. D Math
  • foreign language courses
  • technology courses
  • Accounting 101
  • Music Theory

The site is easy to use and you can browse by subject or grade level.  Many of these courses include lesson plans, and you can even use their Custom Schedule Builder to create curriculum plans for each of your children!  SchoolhouseTeachers.com really does take the stressful component out of planning, so that you can enjoy homeschooling your children.  I wish I had known about this resource years ago.

What We’re Using

I’m planning on having my 10th grade use the SAT-ACT Math Test Prep from Mr. D Math.  My 5th grader would benefit from the Computer and Technology class entitled “How to Use Microsoft Word.”  I already downloaded the lesson plans, which included 8 lessons that can be completed over 8 weeks, or in 8 days.  One of my other children is going to take a look at the French course since we need to try a different method of foreign language instruction to get a good fit for him.  I’m already making plans for how we can utilize this resource for the remainder of this school year, but now that I know about SchoolhouseTeachers.com, my planning for next school year will be heavily influenced by the options on the site.

Additional Members Resources

Members have access to the World Book online encyclopedia.  Many younger kids would enjoy playing around online just checking out the amazing information, including interactive maps and timelines, and they wouldn’t even realize they were learning!  Sneaky educational opportunities abound with such a great online resource.  Our family will enjoy the convenience of having access to World Book this coming year when the teens need to do research papers.

The SchoolhouseTeachers.com Ultimate Annual Yearly Membership also includes access to a vast video library.  All the kids in my house, from 5 to 15, can find something educational, inspirational, or fun to watch!  I was scrolling through the options and these are some of the gems that our family will be watching soon:

  • Torchlighters (Jim Elliot, Amy Carmichael, William Tyndale)
  • Drawing with Realism
  • High School Apologetics
  • Adulting by Jonathan Pokluda (I’ve already mentioned that I read the book and intend to have my teens read it soon – but here’s a video study of the book!)
  • Drive Thru History

The Literacy Center is also a great resource for me this year with a kindergartener who is beginning to read.  The resources on SchoolhouseTeachers.com include plenty of early readers with games and activities to go along with the stories.  These can be read by me, by my child, or by the computer as my child follows along.  This is a great resource to use for my youngest while I help her older brothers with their schoolwork.  It will keep her actively learning at the times I’m not available to work directly with her.  The Literacy Center also includes dozens of grade level readers, which include comprehension questions for grades 3-4.

What About High School?

I also know that many of you would like more resources and help with homeschooling high school.  You’ll be happy to know that SchoolhouseTeachers.com includes a whole category on their member’s site titled “High School Help for the Homeschool Student and Parent” and includes:

  • Academic Weighting for Transcripts
  • Record keeping system (includes transcripts, report cards, course tracker and portfolio help)
  • College Help Resources
  • Career Exploration
  • Grade Level Scope & Sequence
  • High School & College Prep Print-outs
  • High School Planner

In addition to what I’ve already mentioned, I have my eye on the Homeschool Physical Education Center with goals, skills, and activities spelled out for each age level.  This is definitely a spot in our homeschool that needs some extra attention, and I just can’t believe help in this area is also included in a membership with SchoolhouseTeachers.com.

Full Curriculum Plans

One last reason why this would be an affordable option for many families is their Scope & Sequence information.  For every grade level, SchoolhouseTeachers.com has a downloadable document that specifies the traditional skills and knowledge base for each subject area.  They then link to courses and resources on the site.  So, if you have a child who will be in first grade next year, you could download the first grade scope & sequence and probably have enough materials or help to put together a full curriculum for your student.  If you have several children, consider that you could have a full homeschool experience with just the resources from this yearly membership, and suddenly homeschool becomes very affordable.  It’s the same price for a yearly membership whether you’re using it to homeschool one child or six children!

I would recommend looking at some additional reviews of the SchoolhouseTeachers.com membership site.  It is an affordable homeschool resource because it has quality courses and products for every member of your family.  It would give you the support needed to homeschool multiple ages without losing your mind.  Using your membership would allow to you to homeschool well even on a tight budget.  Take a look and let me know if you have any questions!
