My daughter was happy to read the book God is Better than Princesses published by Christian Focus. It’s the perfect alphabet book for little girls.
I knew my five-year-old daughter, who loves anything about princesses, would love to read this book – and I was right! In a brilliant way, Sarah Reju takes little girls through the alphabet as she reminds them of a God who is better than the best they can imagine.
This hardcover book is fully illustrated in color, with each page exploring one aspect of a princess according to that letter of the alphabet.
There is a verse of Scripture on each page that illustrates the character of God.
My kindergartener and I read this book together. She may have been able to work through it on her own, but it would definitely be lengthy as a solo read for her.
The publisher recommends reading together for ages up to 5, with a “read myself” age of 5-6.
This book appealed to my daughter because honestly – what little girl in this age range doesn’t get excited about princesses? But this book appealed to me because I saw it as a unique way to explore who God is and what He’s like. It was the best of both worlds for us.
The illustrations included more than just caucasian princesses, which was a plus for our family, since my daughter is from Ethiopia. There were white, black, and Asian princesses depicted in this book.
Each page includes a large picture illustrating the concept. There are 1-2 sentences about an aspect of being a princess, with the key word highlighted. The bottom of the page quotes the relevant Bible verse and reference.
This book has quality construction, including vibrant color and strong paper quality. Additionally, the binding is well-made.
So, if you have a little girl in your life who loves princesses and wants to learn more of the truth about God, then this book is perfect fit!
