These DIY felt fortune cookies make a sweet Valentine’s Day craft. It is so simple, that your kids can help make a batch.
Give them to neighbors and friends with a plate of cookies for a sweet Valentine gift. Or, fill a basket with these felt fortune cookies for a cute spin on traditional Valentine decor.

Gather Supplies
You may already have many of these supplies in your craft closet. While I made my fortune cookies red and white, you can certainly have fun with the color choices!
Here are the supplies you need:
- Felt
- Wire
- Wire cutter
- Hot glue gun
- Message strips
- Optional: Deliver a couple of these to your recipient in a Chinese take-out food box

DIY Fortune Cookies
First, cut 4 inch circles out of felt. The easiest way to do this is to find a bowl or round object to trace. Get the kids involved! They can do this step with you.
Next, cut small 4 x 1/2 inch strips of matching felt – one for each circle.
Now you’ll need one piece of wire for each fortune cookie. Cut the wire slightly smaller than 4 inches.
To assemble your fortune cookies, place the wire across the middle of your circle and hot glue the strip of felt to cover it. Nothing has to be perfect here. This will be on the inside of the fortune cookie.
How to Shape Them
Fold and insert one message on top of the glued strip. Then fold the circle in half so the covered wire is in the middle. Bending at the wire edge, pull the two ends together till it looks like a finished fortune cookie. The wire inside makes these incredibly easy to fold and stay put.
Fill a bowl with these to double as décor until Valentines Day. Or hand them out to friends with a small treat inside.
