DIY Valentine’s Day Craft Station:
Set up a crafting station with various materials like colored paper, markers, glue, glitter, and stickers. Kids can create their own Valentine’s Day cards, crafts, or even friendship bracelets to exchange with family or friends.

Valentine’s Day Movie Marathon:
Create a cozy movie day at home with a selection of Valentine’s Day-themed movies or animated films featuring themes of love and friendship. Don’t forget the popcorn and blankets for a perfect movie marathon experience.

Scavenger Hunt with Love Notes:

Group Valentine’s Day Activities

One of my most favorite memories from elementary school was creating a “mailbox” to put on my desk each Valentine’s Day. Then, the whole class would take time delivering Valentines to each classmate on the 14th. If you plan to gather with friends or at a homeschool co-op, you can do this too!

Grab this adorable Valentine’s Day Bundle from our library to help you create your own Valentine’s cards and favors for family and friends.

Here are three group Valentine’s Day activities for kids:

Valentine’s Day Card Exchange:
Organize a card exchange among a group of kids. Each child can create handmade Valentine’s Day cards to give to others in the group. Set up a designated area for the card exchange, and encourage kids to share positive messages and compliments with their friends.

Heart Relay Race:
Plan a heart-themed relay race for the kids. Create heart-shaped markers or cutouts and scatter them around a designated area. Divide the children into teams and have them take turns racing to collect the hearts and bring them back to a central location. It’s a fun and active way to celebrate Valentine’s Day together.

Valentine’s Day Craft Party:
Host a crafting party where kids can work on Valentine’s Day projects together. Set up different craft stations with supplies for making cards, heart-shaped decorations, or even simple jewelry like friendship bracelets. This collaborative crafting session is sure to be a hit!

Valentine’s Day DIY Cards

Whether or not you’re gathering with friends for the 14th, here are 10 creative and easy DIY Valentine’s Day card ideas that kids can make. Don’t forget about neighbors and grandparents too!

Heart-Shaped Animal Cards:
Create adorable animal faces using heart shapes. For example, use two small hearts for eyes, a larger heart for the face, and small triangles for ears to make cute animals like cats, dogs, or bears.

Thumbprint Heart Cards:
Have kids dip their thumbs in washable paint to create heart-shaped thumbprints on the card. Turn the prints into various creatures or use them to make a bouquet of thumbprint flowers.

Lacing Heart Cards:
Cut out large heart shapes from cardstock and punch holes around the edges. Kids can then thread yarn through the holes, creating colorful patterns as they go.

Pop-up Flower Cards:
Make 3D flowers that pop up when the card is opened. Cut out flower shapes, attach a stem made from paper, and glue it inside the card. When opened, the flowers will stand up.

Puzzle Piece Valentine’s Card:
Use old puzzle pieces to create unique Valentine’s Day cards. Paint the puzzle pieces in various colors, let them dry, and then glue them onto the card to form heart shapes or other designs.

Fingerprint Love Tree:
Create a fingerprint tree by having kids dip their fingers in brown paint to make the tree trunk and then use different colored fingerprints to represent leaves. Write messages of love on each fingerprint.

Crayon Art Cards:
Use a crayon to create a colorful background by melting crayon shavings onto the card. Once it’s dry, kids can add heart shapes or other designs using contrasting colors.

Paper Quilling Hearts:
Introduce kids to the art of paper quilling by making intricate heart shapes with rolled strips of colored paper. These can be arranged to form beautiful and unique patterns.

Lollipop Holder Cards:
Attach a lollipop to a card with a heart-shaped cutout. Write a sweet message like “You make my heart pop!” Kids can give these as both a card and a treat.

Watercolor Resist Cards:
Use a white crayon to draw heart shapes on watercolor paper. Then, have kids paint over the paper with watercolors. The crayon-resisted areas will reveal the hidden hearts.

Encourage creativity and personalization, and let the kids have fun expressing their love through these homemade Valentine’s Day cards.
