Protecting Innocence While Preparing Kids for the Real World

As homeschool parents, one of our greatest challenges is finding the balance between preserving our children’s innocence and equipping them to navigate a world that often runs counter to our values. How do we shelter without isolating? How do we guide without overwhelming? As we strive to prepare homeschool kids for the real world, it’s vital to do so without rushing them out of childhood.

In this episode, we’ll explore practical ways to nurture discernment, build resilience, and protect their hearts—while still giving them the tools they’ll need to thrive beyond the safety of home.

Discover practical ways to prepare homeschool kids for the real world—without compromising values, innocence, or a strong biblical foundation

HWM 320. Protecting Innocence While Preparing Kids for the Real World

Meet Our Guest: Elizabeth Urbanowicz

Elizabeth Urbanowicz is a former Christian school teacher with a passion for helping kids develop a strong, lasting faith. She’s the founder and CEO of Foundation Worldview, an organization dedicated to equipping children ages 4–14 to think critically, biblically, and confidently about the world around them. Drawing on her background in education and her deep commitment to truth, Elizabeth creates engaging, age-appropriate curriculum that helps parents and educators build a solid biblical foundation during the formative years. Whether in the classroom or at home, her mission is clear: to raise a generation of kids who can navigate today’s culture with clarity, conviction, and compassion.

In this episode, we discuss:

  • how parents can strike a balance between protecting childhood innocence with real world prep
  • defining a biblical worldview
  • what does it look like to implement these parenting values
  • is there a difference between sheltering and wisely guiding
  • how to prepare our kids to engage critically and Biblically with current cultural messages
  • actionable strategies to take this week in having worldview conversations with our kids
