U.S. Presidents Printable

When I was in sixth grade, our teacher taught us the names of the U.S. Presidents in chronological order.

I can’t tell you how much this helped me through the years – from my high school American history class to my U.S. History class in college to teaching middle schoolers in public school and finally to my own kids!

Now I want to share with you how easy it is to help your kids learn the names of the Presidents. Whether you’re looking for a fun Presidents Day activity or a resource to add to your American history studies, learning the names of the Presidents is a great place to start.

First, download the printable below.

U.S. Presidents Song

Now, with your printable in hand, listen closely to this rendition of the U.S. Presidents Song.

This song was recorded in October 2020 before the 2020 Presidential election. In the future, you can obviously keep adding to the song as we elect new presidents.

Fun fact: when I learned this in sixth grade, the song ended with George H. W. Bush and when I taught this to my eighth graders as a social studies teacher, the song ended with a newly elected George W. Bush. 🙂

You may notice that some presidents include only the last name, and some include both first and last. It’s just the way it fits in the song the best.

The printable includes two versions – one simply with names and dates and one with bolded clues to use with the song.

You can use this to help even your littlest learners to memorize the names of the Presidents. Using songs is one of the best ways to learn!
