Men in Black? Extra-terrestrials? Spiritual warfare? The new Jake Muller Adventures audio drama series for teens is just what your older kids have been looking for. It includes plenty of adventure and action, but also a high quality plot line that has a biblical basis in reality and story-telling.
About The Jake Muller Adventures
The adventure starts with a strange sighting of a girl out on a frozen lake, but without any footprints around her. Jake Muller feels like he needs to keep an eye on this girl as she is transported to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation. But when she is kidnapped from the hospital, we start understanding a bit more about Jake Muller and his past.
With a storyline that feels like it could appear in this week’s news (including a flashback to a U.S. Embassy under attack) and while experiencing some nightmares related to his past, Jake Muller starts to identify some dark spiritual forces at play.
Jake is confronted with the possibility of extra-terrestrial contact, and so he contacts his old pastor for a biblical explanation. This audio drama explores questions concerning the possibility of extra-terrestrial life and whether it is what we think it is.
Filled with high speed chases, gun shots, and daring escapes, the storyline will keep your teens on the edge of their seats while simultaneously following Jake on his own spiritual journey.
The four half-hour episode arcs always end with a cliffhanger. As my teens were listening to it, I could hear the audible moan when the segment ended! That’s an excellent sign of a riveting and high quality audio drama.
Darby Kern is the creator of the Jake Muller Adventures. Darby’s extensive resume as an audio drama scriptwriter includes Lamplighter Theatre, Heirloom Audio Productions, Kids Corner, Left Behind, and more.
And I would be remiss if I forgot to mention the terrific original music score that perfectly works with the story.
The Perfect Audience
The intended audience of The Jake Muller Adventures are those kids who spent their childhoods listening to classics like The Adventures in Odyssey series but have sadly outgrown those stories.
Written from a Christian worldview and with Biblical references and foundations, this series will be welcomed by Christian teens who want an updated audio drama for their age level.
This series includes serious topics and realistic sound effects that will thrill your middle and high schoolers!
The Jake Muller Adventures provide a helpful backdrop for a great discussion with your teens about some of the messaging and trends of the world. It will help you talk to your kids about demonic influences, ouija boards, as well as the importance of being Biblically grounded and understanding what they believe.
Our Experience
We dipped our toes into The Jake Muller Adventures, not really sure what we would find there. My almost 12-year-old son listened to Unidentified over a couple days. He absolutely loved it!
Then I decided to listen to it. Even as an adult, the storyline, themes, and music just pulled me right in, and I can honestly say I was super impressed.
The next day, I asked my three high schoolers to listen to at least one segment. They each couldn’t stop at one, and listened to more! These kids are hard to please and very picky about the books they read as well as the audio they spend their time listening to.
The fact that these three boys, ages (almost) 12 to (almost) 17, avidly listened to and enjoyed Unidentified is a testament to the quality of this product.
Here’s what they had to say:
What did you like about the audio drama?
It was really suspenseful and made me want to keep listening to find out what happened next.
It felt like it could really happen in the real world.
What would you tell your friends about Unidentified?
It’s really interesting. It explores what aliens might be. And we normally don’t have Christian stuff that talks about those topics.
The content is clean, there is no language or inappropriate content.
However, I do have one caveat.
Don’t let your really young kids listen in. This audio drama is right on for the Christian teenager, but would probably be too frightening for some younger siblings. Or better yet, listen to it yourself first so you can see at what age your kids would be okay with listening in.
Save on The Jake Muller Adventures
Your teens will love this new audio drama series, which the creators affectionately describe as a cross between Indiana Jones and the X-Files. Head on over to their site and listen to the trailer.
They even have a Podcast which your teens would love to check out if they have an interest in the behind-the-scenes aspects of producing an audio drama.
And the exciting news is that they have plans to release at least three more titles in this series, including: Blood, Undead, and Shroud.
This would make an excellent addition to your homeschool audio and CD library. And if grandparents are asking for gift suggestions for your teens, send them to The Jake Muller Adventures!
