Preschoolers and Younger Kids

Here are some great ideas to keep your preschooler’s hands busy while still learning! These boxes are great additions to your homeschool toolbox because your toddler can look forward to playing with these items while you homeschool the older kids.

Kids GIANT Coloring Collage – Want a great resource to keep your preschoolers busy during the homeschool day? What about this massive table cover collage? Your kids will spend hours coloring these fun collages. They’re 6 feet tall and 3 feet wide!

Little Learners Busy Box – Looking for preschool in a box? This is it! Perfect activities to keep your 2–4-year-old busy and learning. No prep required. Everything’s done for you so your child can dig into the box for hours of fun hands-on play.

Sensory Bin Monthly Subscription – You know that sensory bins are fun, but they’re also educational. And they might be the perfect solution for your homeschool if you have younger kids that need to stay busy while you’re homeschooling their older siblings. If you want done-for-you sensory bins, this is it.

Subscription Boxes for Homeschool Learning

Coding & STEM Subscription Boxes

Bitsbox – This fun box will deliver a monthly coding project for ages 6-12. Bitsbox has been voted #1 STEM box for kids. Your kids will learn to make video games, greeting cards, simulations, and more. Perfect for curious kids, no experience necessary!

Monthly Architecture Box – How fun is this box for ages 9-14? Your kids will build amazing architecture from around the world with a wooden build kit, architecture workbook, sticker sheet, and supplemental books.

Crate Expectations Subscriptions – Your kids ages 8-12 will receive a book each month paired with a snack and related toys or games. The adventure guide includes a STEM activity, recipe, and discussion questions.

Monthly STEM Lab Box – Your kids ages 8-12 will love having a monthly STEM project to build. Includes instructions and all the supplies you need to complete. Kids will learn about chemistry, robotics, physics, circuits, and more.

Geodes of the Month Box – What a great way to start collecting educational and fun geodes. Each box includes a Brazilian or Mexican polished half geode specimen plus educational information about your piece.

Crafts & Art Lessons in a Box

Pottery Box for Kids – How fun would this be to add to your homeschool for any age? Each month you’ll get a box with 3 pottery bisque pieces and all the materials you need to complete the projects.

Craft in Style Box – Here’s a great option for homeschool moms and their crafty teens! You’ll get a stylish DIY project each month. Boxes can even be customized. Would you love to work with making a DIY terrarium, candle, sun print photography, and more? Then sign up for this fun craft club.

Art School Box – You’ll get four projects each month from a licensed art teacher and working artist. Plus, you’ll have access to video lessons! Consider it homeschool art class in a box.

Nature Sketch Crate – What a fun crate to add to your Charlotte Mason homeschool. An award-winning artist will send you step-by-step instructions each month to create a new plant and animal painting each month. For ages 7+

Geography & History Subscriptions

Heritage Letter – What better way to learn about important people and places in American history than to receive a Heritage Letter each month in the mail? In fact, you can base your history and geography studies around these letters. Listen to episode 99 of the Homeschool with Moxie Podcast where we chat with Heritage Letter creator Julie about how to get the most out of this resource.

Backpack The World Cultural Geography Kit – Your kids ages 9-15 will immerse themselves in a new country every month. Includes a country newsletter, recipe, maps and virtual tours, craft, stickers, puzzles, common phrases, and a backpack. It’s a great subscription box for homeschoolers.

Universal Yums – My kids absolutely loved the subscription their aunt bought them one year for Universal Yums. Each month, we received a box of snack food and informational material from a specific country. It was fun to learn about that country and try out their food. From Israel to South Korea, Canada and Colombia, we enjoyed them all.

Stickers & Fun Subscription Boxes for Kids

Kids Club Classic – Here’s a monthly sticker club for kids that will send you back to your childhood! Do you remember sticker books from the 1980s (or am I dating myself?). Each pack includes 15 sheets of fun stickers, postcard, activity book, and a storage pouch. There’s enough here for several kids to share.

I’m The Chef Too! Educational Cooking Kits – Do your kids love to cook? These cooking kits are themed to include a recipe and STEAM activity. Themes include geology, oceanography, chemistry, meteorology, astronomy, zoology, and more! So in addition to cooking a fun treat, your kids will be exploring STEM topics too.

Curiosity Box Kids – In this monthly box your kids ages 5-7 will enjoy 3 craft kids plus a small STEAM project. Everything you need including instructions and supplies comes in the box.

Subscriptions for Homeschool Moms

Jim Hodges Audiobooks – Okay, this is not technically a physical subscription box, but it’s still so valuable to homeschool families that I wanted to include it in this post! When you want quality audiobooks for your homeschool at an affordable price, then Jim Hodges Audiobooks is the go-to source. Plus, his download a month club is a great value. You can hear Jim on episode 134 of the Homeschool with Moxie Podcast. His tagline is right on: “because mom can only read so much!”

Stitch Fix – I’ve been enjoying referral credits from Stitch Fix for years and you can too! Just sign up for a designer-curated clothing box set to your preferences, and you’ll get $25 in credit. That means you can send them all back for $0 cost, or keep $25 worth of the clothing that comes. Then, share your unique referral code with friends and see the credits roll in.

Your pre-teens or teens might also like a fix for their birthdays or other special event. It’s the best way I’ve found to shop for clothing as an introvert who really hates to go to the store. You can see some of  my fixes on my YouTube channel. While this is not technically a subscription box for homeschoolers, even homeschool moms deserve to have cute clothes. Right?!

Foreign Language Box for All Ages!

Here’s your bonus box: #21. If you’d love to help build fluency in a foreign language for any age, then you can try TalkBox.Mom using our exclusive coupon codes.

What is TalkBox.Mom? It’s a foreign language subscription box that comes with a theme – whether your kids are learning the names of food or items in the house, they’ll be having fun while learning another language.

Try their ball challenge for free to see what you think. And yes, this subscription box can be used for high school foreign language credit! Listen to our podcast episode #138 with Adelaide, founder of TalkBox.Mom to learn how you can use this unique subscription box in your homeschool.

What if a Subscription Box for Homeschoolers is too pricey?

You might think that some of these subscription box ideas for homeschoolers are a bit too pricey for your family. Here are a few ways to look at it.

First, they could be gifts from grandparents. When your parents or in-laws are asking what gifts to give the kids for birthdays or holidays, if you see value in some of these subscription boxes, they’re a fun alternative to more physical toys. Plus, they’re educational too!

Second, if some of these subscriptions would double as homeschool curriculum or resources, then the price may be on-point. For example, the Art School box includes materials for several art projects plus access to video lessons. You might find that it is inexpensive compared to art lessons for multiple kids. Or, a Jim Hodges Audiobooks download a month club might be less than you were spending on audible!

Just some things to think about as you consider the best resources for your homeschool.

I am in love with Hola amigo box for Spanish language development. The price is just a bit higher than most but the products, the organization, and the ideas are worth every penny. I am not one to pay out for subscription boxes but this one surpasses most so I am willing to each month. Highlights magazine is great and Toucan Box. I am unsure if Toucan Box is still around but it was inexpensive and had fun crafts, an activity book and ideas all around a theme.

Nice! Thanks for adding more ideas here, Sarah. I agree that once you find a subscription that works for your family, it’s well worth the price. Love Highlights – in fact, it began in 1946 in the little town we live near 🙂 Such a staple of childhood for so many of us.
