The Inductive Bible Study Method teaches kids and adults how to dig into the text of Scripture for themselves and be able to understand what it says! It’s a method that promotes active learning and is accessible to all ages.
How Are Your Current Bible Courses?
Would you love to find a Bible course that teaches your kids (and you!) how to approach the text of Scripture and learn what it says?
Does it seem hard to know where to start when teaching your kids to study the Bible?
Would you like to use the Bible as your Bible “textbook” instead of having your kids complete worksheets about the Bible?
If you’re saying YES to these statements, then Inductive Bible Study Courses are for YOU!
What Are Inductive Bible Study Courses?
This Bible study method teaches you to read through a book of the Bible noticing these parts:
- background & author
- how this book fits into the entire Bible
- reading in the proper context
- noticing key words
- finding attributes of God
- and more!
The inductive method thrives by letting the text speak for itself. It involves noticing the details in a passage as you study through whole books of the Bible, then finding the key idea, interpreting the passage, and finally applying it.
It’s a tool that allows you to dig deep into God’s Word, understand what the text is really saying, and it’s accessible for elementary kids and beyond!
Why is Bible so hard to teach in our homeschool?
If you’re frustrated trying to find solid Bible curriculum to use in your homeschool, I can totally relate! I know what I’m looking for, and just can’t seem to find it.
If your kids are like mine, they don’t need more Bible stories or coloring pages. They’re probably getting that at church anyway.
And my kids need to learn how to read and study the Bible for themselves. It’s a crucial need for growing in their faith and unless we teach it to them as parents, they might not learn it anywhere else, sadly!
Here’s what I heard from many of the families I’ve talked to. Here is what families are searching for in a Bible resource:
- Serious Word-driven study without “fluff”
- Resources that will do more than just teach Bible stories
- Depth, independence, learning beyond the “big stories” that are used in Sunday School
- Using an actual Bible to teach
- Helps them learn to read the Bible on their own and understand what they are reading
- Easy for a child to use on his own
- All ages together
- No prep, just open and learn as a family
- Something to help them learn how to study the Bible, not just read it

Why Inductive Bible Study?
Many families want a Word-driven resource instead of offering their kids more fluff and devotional thoughts.
They want to use the Bible itself as the main book instead of a “Bible textbook” written for a classroom.
“I would love to see an inductive Bible study resource for homeschoolers!“
“This would fill a HUGE gap.“
Inductive Bible studies dig into the actual text of Scripture, taking students through three steps and asking these questions of the text:
- Observation: What does the text say?
- Interpretation: What does the text mean?
- Application: How should this change me?
The inductive method is excellent for so many learning styles. It encourages visual, kinesthetic, and auditory learners in its approach to studying the Bible.
Finally, the inductive method supports active learning!
Introducing Bible Resources for Your Homeschool
The beauty of homeschooling is that you can learn right alongside of your children. Even if you never learned how to study the Bible yourself (many adults haven’t!), you can learn together as a family. There are many options available so you can pick what’s right for you.
Psalm 1 Bible Studies
Are you curious about the inductive Bible study method but still not sure you want to jump in with a big commitment? Then these Psalm 1 Bible study options are for you! Your kids can do a little wading into the shallow end of the inductive method before diving deep into a whole book study. Here’s what to expect.
Psalm 1 Little Fishes (K-4)
We created Little Fishes Bible Study materials for kids that are reading, in approximately kindergarten through fourth grade. If your older kids are completing an Inductive Bible study, your kids in K-4 will be able to follow along with an inductive study at their level.
Psalm 1 Self Study Workbook (Grades 5-12)
Your middle school and high school kids will be ready to dive into the Self Study Workbook that walks them step-by-step through an inductive study of Psalm 1.
We decided that Psalm 1 provided a short yet meaty section of Scripture that could be used to learn the inductive method of study.
Video Lessons (Grades 5-12)
These Inductive Bible study lessons are also available through a video format. It’s just so much easier to see someone marking the key ideas of a text as they lead you through how to study it. Visual learners will love this format!
Since there are multiple levels all studying the same passages, all your kids can study through a passage together.
I’m so excited about the possibilities of sharing the inductive method in an open & go and easy to use format!
It will have all the components that are essential in great homeschool Bible materials:
- Bible is the “textbook”
- easy to use
- teaching done for you (video) or independent self study workbook
- works with multiple ages
- encourages active learning from the kids!
- works with many different learning styles – visual, kinesthetic, aural, verbal & logical
I’ve never learned to study the Bible, which makes it very difficult to do more than read the traditional Bible stories.homeschool mom
Studying the Scripture doesn’t have to be impossible! Even if you’ve never been taught how to do it, you can learn right alongside of your kids.

The James Little Fishes Bible Study will give your younger children (K-4) a gentle introduction to the inductive method as they study through key passages in the book of James.
Your older kids (grades 5-12) will go through the entire book of James as they learn how to observe, interpret, and apply the text.
Optional video lessons are available to go along with the Self Study Workbook for grades 5-12. Or, purchase the James Family Bundle to have access to all the resources for grades K-12.
Choose the James Inductive Bible Study that fits your family’s needs:
We now have the Jonah & Nahum plus James studies available on Amazon!
The benefit of having a physical workbook is that you don’t have to make copies yourself. If you only have one or two students taking the course – and especially if you’re using it for a full-year study – then purchasing the physical workbook is the way to go.
For multiple kids in one family using the Bible study, then the digital format allows you to make as many copies as you need for one price.
Jonah & Nahum Inductive Bible Studies
The Jonah & Nahum Little Fishes Bible Study will give your younger children (K-4) a gentle introduction to the inductive method as they study through key passages in both books.
Your older kids (grades 5-12) will go through the entire books of Jonah & Nahum as they learn how to observe, interpret, and apply the text. Did you know that the book of Nahum traces the history of Nineveh about 100 years after Jonah preached there?
Optional video lessons are available to go along with the Self Study Workbook for grades 5-12. Or, purchase the Jonah & Nahum Family Bundle to have access to all the resources for grades K-12.
Gospel of John Inductive Bible Study
Are your teens ready to move deeper into studying the Bible?
Your students in grades 7-12 can move past just simply memorizing Bible stories and facts to learning how to study Scripture in context.
In this online Bible class through chapters 1-12 in the Gospel of John, your teens will learn how to use the inductive method to systematically observe, interpret, and apply the text.
My Experience with Inductive Bible Studies
Why am I passionate about bringing these courses to you?
As a girl who grew up in a Christian home, attended Christian school, and regularly attended church my whole life – I was struck by the fact that I was never actually taught HOW to study the Bible. I was told I needed to do it, but never given the tools for diving into the text itself.
About twenty years ago, as newlyweds, my husband and I were introduced to the Inductive Bible study method and have been reaping its benefits ever since. This was the tool that I wish someone would have shared with me in my middle school or high school years!
Now my husband is a pastor, and I’ve had the opportunity to teach ladies Bible studies with the inductive method. I’ve also been able to teach my own kids how to study the Bible this way.
